Abstract: In the course of the bacteriological study of certain cinchona derivatives undertaken in conjunction with Dr. Martha Wollstein and Dr. Lloyd D. Felton it developed that in general the dihydrogenated alkaloids of the quinicine type (I) were less pneumococeidal than the original alkaloids (II) from which they were derived.
