Abstract: 12 19 to be expected from Raoult's law. This might be ascribed to association of the atoms of the solute. I t is shown, however, that the deviation of the pressures from Raoult's law are due t o the abnormal properties of the system under consideration. From the form of the complete vapor pressure curve of sodium solutions, it appears that the deviation is due to the fact that there is a tendency for the solutions to separate into two phases for which the critical point lies near 3 molal per cent. of metal.
