Abstract: Data from a 20-week trial comparing insulin detemir and neutral protamine Hagedorn (NPH) insulin in insulin-naïve people with type 2 diabetes were analyzed using willingness-to-pay (WTP) data, a proxy for patient preference. The advantages of insulin detemir relative to NPH insulin with respect to a lower hypoglycemia rate and less weight gain were associated with a value of €27.87 per month.
