Genome‐wide identification of a novel miRNA‐based signature to predict recurrence in patients with gastric cancer

Abstract: The current tumor node metastasis (TNM) staging system is inadequate for identifying high‐risk gastric cancer (GC) patients. Using a systematic and comprehensive‐biomarker discovery and validation approach, we attempted to build a microRNA (miRNA)‐recurrence classifier (MRC) to improve the prognostic prediction of GC. We identified 312 differentially expressed miRNAs in 446 GC tissues compared to 45 normal controls by analyzing high‐throughput data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Using a Cox regression mo… Show more

“…54 Recently, several research groups have established new predictive models to more accurately and quickly predict the prognosis of gastric cancer patients. 55,56 In this study, nine lncRNAs (AC018647.3, MAGI2-AS3, MIR99AHG, NR2F1-AS1, LINC00106, PVT1, RP5-1074L1.4, RP11-7K24.3, and RP11-999E24.3) were found to be associated with the overall survival of patients. Among these lncRNAs, PVT1 is one of the best studied lncRNAs.…”

“…Although the early diagnosis and therapy of GC were rapidly developed over the past decades, most of the patients with GC were faced with metastasis recurrence [31][32][33]. It is important for GC patients to search out effective new biomarkers.…”
