“…PEP captures SNS-mediated effects on cardiac control, which is driven by beta-adrenergic neurotransmission (Larsen, Schneiderman, & Pasin, 1986). PEP is theorized to index behavioral approach, including active coping (Brenner, Beauchaine, & Sylvers, 2005;Kelsey, 2012;Obradović & Boyce, 2012), with greater PEP reactivity (decreases) indicative of heightened reward processing (Richter & Gendolla, 2009) and stress sensitivity (Beauchaine, 2001). “…Another common index of SNS arousal that has been more widely studied in the context of anxiety disorders is electrodermal activity (EDA), which reflects activity of the eccrine sweat glands (Dawson, Schell, & Filion, 2007) driven by cholinergic neurotransmission (Fowles, 1986;Shields, MacDowell, Fairchild, & Campbell, 1987).
