While the advent of Industry 4.0 is emblematic of national strategy for industrial revitalization, the proliferation of technology has drastically changed the landscape of many major sectors of global industries. Industry 4.0 encompasses multi-dimensional conceptsincluding computerization, digitization, and intelligentization-of business operations based on cyber-physical-systems (CPS) and the Internet-of-Things (IoTs). The vision of Industry 4.0 will bring about improvements in industrial processes, ranging from engineering, material usage, supply chains, and product lifecycle management, to the horizontal value chain. This research project adopts a descriptive analysis with descriptive statistics under the innovation policy framework proposed by Rothwell and Zegveld. This report also informs a comparative policy analysis across China and Taiwan. From the perspectives of industry coalition and competition, this cross-strait comparison lends itself to being a policy-making reference. Results reveal that China, in terms of policy-making, concentrates on 'political' and 'legal/regulatory' aspects of environmental policy, as well as the theme of 'public service' of the demand-side policy. Taiwan also emphasizes the 'environmental-side' policy like China, whereas Taiwan focuses more on 'education/training' of the supply-side policy.

The spin-flip-associated transport through a quantum dot based on the Anderson model in equilibrium and nonequilibrium situations is studied. It is found that electrons are scattered due to the spin-flip effect via the normal and the Kondo channels. Our results show that the conductance is suppressed due to the spin-flip effect, and the suppression due to the spin-flip scattering via the Kondo channel is stronger for temperatures below the Kondo temperature.

Photon-associated electron tunneling ͑PAT͒ in a quantum dot is studied by a fully quantum-mechanical approach. An experiment to determine the electron-photon coupling coefficient g and the photon number of the system is proposed to distinguish whether the system is in the quantum situation or the semiclassical situation. It is also found that the PAT current is assisted or suppressed depending on the shift of the environment photon-intensity-dependent photon sidebands.

An analytical method is derived for obtaining the finite deformation of 2-D thin curved beams with variable curvatures. The general solutions are expressed by fundamental geometric quantities. As the radius of curvature is given, the fundamental geometric quantities can be calculated to obtain the closed form solutions of the axial force, shear force, bending moment, rotation angle, and deformed and un-deformed displacement fields. The closed-form solutions of the circular, spiral, ellipse, parabola, cycloid, catenary and logarithmic spiral beams under pure bending moment cases and simple circular curved beam under a pair of horizontal forces are presented. The results show the consistency in comparison with ANSYS results. also investigated the stability of nonlinear equilibrium equations for fluid pressure loading. Due to the complexity of mathematical models, analytical solutions are very limited. Timoshenko [14] showed the large deformation of an elastica. It also showed the stability of a straight beam of large deformation. In this paper, we apply the tangent slope coordinate theory by Lin [15,16,17] to study finite deformation 2-D of curved rods with variable curvatures.

The ballistic conductance of a coupled $T$-shaped semiconductor quantum wire (CTQW) are studied. Two types of CTQW are considered, one of which is a $\Pi $-shaped quantum wire ($\Pi $QW) which consists of two transverse wires on the same side of the main wire and the other a $\Pi $-clone quantum wire ($\Pi $CQW) which consists of two transverse wires on the opposite sides of the main wire. The mode matching method and Landauer-Buttiker theory are employed to study the energy dependence of the ballistic conductance. Most of transmission profiles of $\Pi $QW and $\Pi $CQW are found to be distinguishable for large separation $d$ between the two transverse arms. The transmission probability manifests oscillatory behavior when $d$ is increased. When a potential is added to the connection region, it results in decoupling or coupling effects between the two T-shaped wires according to whether it is positive or negative. When magnetic fields are applied to CTQW, the transmission profiles are found to be affected profoundly even if the electrons pass through the field free region only.Comment: 16 pages, 8 figure
