“…In accordance with the results, Liu et al previously showed that relative abundance of the order Lactobacillales was lower (0.151%) in TRAMP mice fed with an HFD compared to those fed with a control diet (0.954%) [40]. A recent preclinical study revealed that Lactobacillus acidophilus attenuated obesity through gut dysbiosis with the reduction of endotoxemia and production of systematic anti-inflammatory molecules [41]. Another study reported in vitro cytotoxic effects of L. acidophilus LA-5 (LA-5) and L. rhamnosus GG (LGG) grown in the presence of oleuropein on human PCa cell lines [42,43].…”

“…In addition, HFD alters the functional integrity of the ileum, and one mechanism by which HFD induces gut microbes dysbiosis by modifying peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ (PPAR-γ) pathway ( Tomas et al, 2016 ). Of note, HFD-induced gut microbiome alterations are strongly associated with metabolic diseases ( Kang et al, 2022 ). Currently, intervention of gut microbiota by prebiotics can prevent or ameliorate HFD-induced metabolic diseases ( Kang et al, 2022 ).…”

Currently, intervention of gut microbiota by prebiotics can prevent or ameliorate HFD-induced metabolic diseases ( Kang et al, 2022 ). Of note, characterization of intestinal microbiota profiles prior to dietary intervention by prebiotics will increase the positive outcome in patients with metabolic disorders ( Rodriguez et al, 2020 ).…”

“…The administration of the probiotic Lactobacillus plantarum, Bifidobacterium breve, and Lactobacillus fermentum to obese mice exposed to Escherichia coli increased the content of SCFAs in the stool by modifying the structure of the microbiota and reducing inflammation [162,163]. The administration of Lactobacillus acidophilus (probiotic bacteria) has been shown to alleviate the effects of obesity in mice by modulating intestinal microbiota dysbiosis and tightening the intestinal mucosa, as well as increasing the activity of Akkermansia muciniphila [164,165]. Consuming foods containing probiotic bacteria has a positive effect on the gastrointestinal microbiome [157,159].…”
